Particularly when you're a young adult and just starting out, a leg up goes a long way toward setting you up for the rest of your life; that extra advantage snowballs into other opportunities that see you progressing further in your career and earning at a higher pay rate than your peers. Even something like living at home without paying rent can quickly accumulate into a down payment or tuition toward further education. And while your peers burn huge portions of their income each month on rent and living expenses, you're just saving.
But there comes a point where it's time to cut the cord. And having too much shoveled into your mouth on a silver spoon will prevent you from learning how to take those advantages that you have been given and work toward something, instead of becoming complacent and dependent on that support being provided to you.
Plus, at this point in your life, your parents are taking a look at slowing down, hopefully settling down into a comfortable retirement that will allow them to spend time doing the things they never got the chance to while they were raising a family, and to deal with other inevitable medical issues and surprises that will pop up as they age. As an adult child, the last thing you really want is to be the reason why they can't retire when they should be because they were busy funding your existence.
